So, Kay just got the all too popular epidural and is all of the sudden feeling like a million bucks. That being the case, I thought I'd use this time to share a little education on what is going on here. Be honest, women, there is a good chance that even you don't know what happens during labor and delivery. So, here's your chance but please, no questions, I've done my time "down there" as a student.....
Kay's stats:
Effacement: 80% (shooting for 100%)
Dilation: 2cm (no pushin' 'til 10)
station: 0 (-2=way the hell up in there, 0=head's a comin', +2=you can virtually
look the baby in the eye).
A few pics to help those of you visual learners (Kay limited my input here. Says it would be a little too graphic for some....probably right, myself included)
No baby in the last one, just trying to help the guys understand how far up in "there"
these docs stick "stuff". And you thought there was alot of room for the dipstick to your car's oil pan....It's gotta be a little uncomfortable.
Thanks for visiting our blog!
We hope that through our blog you'll get a glimpse of our world. We'd like to think our life is exciting enough to document, but really we're just "average joe's" living each day, loving each other!

A FULL MOON
Well, we're awake and pumping out contractions at 3 minutes or so.
Ok, so I'm not pumping out any contractions but Kay sure is.
I've posted a little video clip to see if things will work when the baby
shows up.
We'll stay in touch.

BABY TIME
So, we're back and this time it's no joke...at least that's what they tell us.
We've been admitted and are sitting in the delivery room watching Dr 90210
between contractions. Looks like that lil' baby finally wants out.
We'll keep things updated as much as possible and will have pics/video on the
blog as things progress.

HOSPITAL TIME...
Well, Kay has been "contracting" since around 9pm last night.
As of noon, these "contractions" were about 6 minutes apart and fairly regular.
So, here we are, listening to the beeping of machines on a background of Dub's heart beat on the L&D floor.
To cut to the chase, looks like this may be false alarm #1. #1 'cause I can't promise that this won't happen again.
So, we'll hang out a little while and probably make our way back home later this afternoon.
Ah, such is life as a first-time soon to be parent.
This kid just likes it way too much in there.....

Recent Happenings
I thought I would take a second and give an update. It's been a busy month here in the Worrell household. The end of August Micah's parents came to visit us which was such a treat. We realize how much we miss being around the familiar, but were so glad for the time we had to spend with them.
Starting in September Micah began his orthopedic rotation and hasn't had a day off since Sept 1. His day starts around 3:30 and some days is lucky to be in bed by 8:30 unless he is on call. He is really enjoying the surgeries and being in the hospital, but will be ready for a break by the end of the month. I'm not really sure if he'll get his "break" next month once the baby arrives. Our due date is October 12, but who knows when Mini "W" will make the grand entrance.
I went back to CO for a baby shower thrown by my wonderful friends and family. It was amazing and wonderful to see everyone. We are very blessed and miss everyone like crazy! Here are a few pictures from the shower.
As for now, I'm "nesting" as they call it- trying to get the house ready for the baby, but also my parents will be visiting. I am very excited to meet this little one and begin this next chapter in our life. We appreciate all the love and support from everyone and will keep you posted on the arrival of the newest Worrell!

Life as we know it (for now)
So in case you didn't notice I had to change the title of our blog. "Weekly" has been a bit difficult to keep up with these days. I cannot image what it will be like once Mini W actually joins our family- maybe "Worrell Yearly":) Speaking of the little booger here is the latest picture we have.
Anyways- we've been working away here in TFO (Toledo-Freakin' Ohio) as we like to call it. This summer hasn't been too bad, actually cooler than Colorado which has been nice. We've been able to experience things here we've never done before. For instance...
Installing a dishwasher & garbage disposal! What a guy!
So I need to explain- our neighbors told us about these big bugs that come in the middle of July and kill the cicadas. They fly through the air, attack and sting the cicadas, then drag them down to the nests they've created (in the grass beside our driveway). When the first told us about them I was a bit nervous, but then I actually saw them and I FREAKED OUT!! I stayed in the car one day for at least 30 min b/c I was too scared to get out. Those things suddenly appeared and I didn't want them to mistake me for a delicious cicada. Needless to say- my dear husband broke out the tennis racket and has now killed a total of 25. He and our neighbor are in a fierce competition for the "Cicada Killer Wasp Open!"
So as you can see -residency sure is exciting. At least at our house!
I have had a few Ohio experiences myself. My mom had a cake made for me at the local bakery down the street for my birthday. It was wonderful! I didn't eat it all myself, but I sure could have! I also went blueberry picking at a local farm. Let's just say this city girl is getting country-fied???
I'm getting large & in charge! 10 Weeks to go!
